Dr Jonathan Howlett attended the University of New Brunswick, Canada. He subsequently attended and graduated from Medical School at the University of Toronto in 1989. He went on to train in Internal Medicine and a Cardiology Fellowship at Dalhousie University in from 1989 until 1994 and continued with Fellowship studies at the Toronto Congenital Cardiac Centre for Adults, University of Toronto, from 1994 until 1995. Dr Howlett was an active member of staff at the Dalhousie University and the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre from 1995 until 2008, when he became Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
Dr Howlett’s current activities include clinical research in heart failure, as well as evaluation of healthcare delivery, outcomes, and knowledge translation in clinical practice. He has served on various national and international heart failure guideline committees and has published over 110 peer-reviewed and in-press articles.
Dr Howlett has received consulting honoraria and honoraria as a speaker from Merck, Novartis, Servier Laboratories, Medtronic, Pfizer, Otsuka, Bayer, and Boehringer Ingelheim. He has received research support from Merck, Novartis, Servier Laboratories, Medtronic, Pfizer, Otsuka, and Bayer. Dr Howlett declares no other conflict of interest.
